Barbie/Aphelion (she/her) grew up in Victoria on picturesque Vancouver Island, where the lush, green landscapes helped to shape her signature moody and deep hypnotic/dub techno style. She has been djing for 15 years, with a recent run of gigs in Brooklyn before returning to Victoria.
She was also a part of the duo Re:Click who released on Subspec and is presently going back to her roots in bass music.
2022 marked a turning point in her career when she started her own party called Headless Dolls which showcases TRANS dj’s across all genres. Her Barbie/Aphelion moniker allows a broader dj range while she uses simply Aphelion when the focus is exploring the techno space.
She released a mix on the highly respected Deep Electronics podcast as well as Clubbersguidenewyork, Mind Xxpansions and many more. She has shared decks which some NYC and European stalwarts including CRAFT, Dorian Gray, Jay Zoney and Josh Garrett. With a deep respect for artists who’ve inspired her music (Donato Dozzy, Kwartz and Rrose among others), her techno will lead you down a winding path into beautiful madness!
